Product Overview

The Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus Ab Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the detection of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease Virus antibodies (RHD Ab) in rabbit serum or plasma. Results can be read visually or further analyzed with a dry immunoassay analyzer for semi-quantitative grading.

Suitable for:

🐰 Rabbits at risk of infection 🏥 Veterinary clinics & animal hospitals 🐾 Rabbit farms & breeding facilities 🔬 Field screening

Detection Principle

The test card features a testing window with an initially invisible T (test) zone and a C (control) zone. Highly selective antibodies to rabbit haemorrhagic disease virus antibodies serve as the capture (T) and gold-labeled detector antibodies. When the treated sample is added to the sample well, the liquid flows laterally across the test strip. If the target is present, a visible T line appears, which can also be recognized by the VETSEE G2 analyzer. The C line must always appear after sample application, indicating proper test performance.

Test Procedure

1Equilibrate — allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature (15–25 °C) for 10 minutes before use.
2Collect sample — collect serum, plasma or whole blood following standard veterinary procedures.
3Apply sample — remove the test card from the foil pouch, place it flat, and transfer 1 drop of the sample (using a capillary dropper) into the sample well.
4Add buffer — transfer 3 drops of the assay buffer (using a disposable dropper) into the sample well.
5Read result — start the timer and read at 5–10 minutes. Do not move the test card during testing.

* Instrumental method (Standard Test / Quick Test) also available with the VETSEE G2 Dry Immunoassay Analyzer — see the IFU for details.

Result Interpretation

C lineT lineResultInterpretation
VisibleVisiblePositive (+)Target detected. Any faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
VisibleNot visibleNegative (−)No target detected.
No lineAnyInvalidTest failed; repeat with a new test card.

With the analyzer, the RHD Ab result can be classified into five phases: negative (-), suspicious (+/-), weak positive (+), positive (++) and strong positive (+++), according to the antibody titer. A suspicious (+/-) result is indeterminate and repeat testing is recommended.

* The C and T lines appear as magenta-colored lines. For in vitro veterinary use only — results should be considered alongside other clinical information.

FAQ

QWhich specimens can be tested?
ARabbit serum or plasma.
QHow long until the result?
A5–10 minutes after adding the sample.
QDo I need an instrument?
ANo instrument is required for Method 1 (visual interpretation). The VETSEE G2 analyzer is optional for semi-quantitative reading.
QWhat if the T line is very faint?
AAny faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
QCan the test card be reused?
ANo. Each card is for single use only.
QWhat does the C line mean?
AThe C (control) line must always appear after sample application, indicating proper test performance. No C line = invalid test, repeat.
