Product Overview

The Canivet Leishmania-Anaplasma Ab Combo Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay designed for the rapid differential diagnosis of leishmaniasis and anaplasmosis by detecting antibodies specific to Leishmania canis and Anaplasma spp. in canine serum, plasma or whole blood, from a single specimen collection and sample preparation.

Suitable for:

🐕 Dogs at risk of infection 🏥 Veterinary clinics & animal hospitals 🐾 Rescue centers & breeding kennels 🔬 Field screening

Detection Principle

The test is based on sandwich method lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test card features 2 testing windows, each containing a T (test) zone and a C (control) zone that are initially invisible before the assay. When the treated sample is applied, the liquid flows laterally across the NC membrane of each test strip, interacting with pre-coated target-specific reagents respectively. The presence of target analytes in the sample results in a visible T line, while the appearance of the C line indicates a successful assay.

Test Procedure

1Equilibrate — allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature (15–25 °C) for 10 minutes before use.
2Collect sample — collect serum, plasma or whole blood following standard veterinary procedures.
3Apply sample — remove the test card from the foil pouch, place it flat, and transfer 1 drop of the sample (using a capillary dropper) into each sample well.
4Add buffer — transfer 3 drops of the assay buffer (using a disposable dropper) into each sample well.
5Read result — start the timer and read at 5–10 minutes. Do not move the test card during testing.

Result Interpretation

C lineT lineResultInterpretation
VisibleVisiblePositive (+)Target detected in the corresponding testing window. Any faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
VisibleNot visibleNegative (−)No target detected.
No lineAnyInvalidTest failed in the corresponding window; repeat with a new test card.

The two windows are read independently using the same blood specimen. A positive LSH window indicates antibodies against Leishmania canis, while a positive ANA window indicates antibodies against Anaplasma spp. In each window a magenta C line must appear for the result to be valid; a visible T line together with the C line is positive (any faintly visible T line counts as positive), a C line without a T line is negative, and a window without a C line is invalid.

* The C and T lines appear as magenta-colored lines. For in vitro veterinary use only — results should be considered alongside other clinical information.

FAQ

QWhich specimens can be tested?
ACanine serum, plasma or whole blood.
QHow long until the result?
A5–10 minutes after adding the sample.
QDo I need an instrument?
ANo instrument is required for Method 1 (visual interpretation).
QWhat if the T line is very faint?
AAny faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
QCan the test card be reused?
ANo. Each card is for single use only.
QWhat does the C line mean?
AThe C (control) line must always appear after sample application, indicating proper test performance. No C line = invalid test, repeat.
