Product Overview

The Feline Calicivirus-Herpesvirus Type 1-Mycoplasma Pneumoniae Ag Combo Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay designed for the rapid differential diagnosis of feline calicivirus, feline herpesvirus type-1 and Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections by detecting their antigens in secretions from feline eye conjunctiva and nasal cavities, from a single specimen collection.

Suitable for:

🐈 Cats at risk of infection 🏥 Veterinary clinics & animal hospitals 🐾 Rescue centers & shelters 🔬 Field screening

Detection Principle

The test is based on sandwich method lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test card features 3 testing windows, each containing a T (test) zone and a C (control) zone that are initially invisible before the assay. When the treated sample is applied, the liquid flows laterally across the NC membrane of each test strip, interacting with pre-coated target-specific reagents respectively. The presence of target analytes in the sample results in a visible T line, while the appearance of the C line indicates a successful assay.

Test Procedure

1Equilibrate — allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature (15–25 °C) for 10 minutes before use.
2Collect sample — collect secretions from eye conjunctiva, nasal cavities or anus with the swab.
3Prepare sample — insert the swab into the assay buffer tube, agitate thoroughly, and let it stand for 30–60 seconds. Use the liquid supernatant as sample.
4Apply sample — remove the test card from the foil pouch, place it flat, and transfer 3 drops of the treated sample into each sample well.
5Read result — start the timer and read at 5–10 minutes. Do not move the test card during testing.

Result Interpretation

C lineT lineResultInterpretation
VisibleVisiblePositive (+)Target detected in the corresponding testing window. Any faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
VisibleNot visibleNegative (−)No target detected.
No lineAnyInvalidTest failed in the corresponding window; repeat with a new test card.

The card has three testing windows (FCV, FHV and Mp), each read independently. A visible magenta C line must appear in a window for that result to be valid; a visible T line together with the C line in a window indicates a positive result for the corresponding target (feline calicivirus, feline herpesvirus type-1 or Mycoplasma pneumoniae). A window in which no line appears in the C zone is invalid.

* The C and T lines appear as magenta-colored lines. For in vitro veterinary use only — results should be considered alongside other clinical information.

FAQ

QWhich specimens can be tested?
ASecretions from feline eye conjunctiva or nasal cavities.
QHow long until the result?
A5–10 minutes after adding the sample.
QDo I need an instrument?
ANo instrument is required for Method 1 (visual interpretation).
QWhat if the T line is very faint?
AAny faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
QCan the test card be reused?
ANo. Each card is for single use only.
QWhat does the C line mean?
AThe C (control) line must always appear after sample application, indicating proper test performance. No C line = invalid test, repeat.
