Product Overview

The Feline HbA1c Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay designed for the quantitative detection of the concentration of hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) in feline whole blood, providing a numerical result in about 10 minutes to help evaluate glycemic control and the risk of diabetes mellitus in cats.

Suitable for:

🐈 Cats at risk of infection 🏥 Veterinary clinics & animal hospitals 🐾 Rescue centers & shelters 🔬 Field screening

Detection Principle

The test is based on a sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test card features a testing window with an initially invisible T (test) zone and a C (control) zone. When the treated sample is applied, the liquid flows laterally across the NC membrane; the target analyte in the sample reacts with the pre-coated monoclonal antibodies and forms a visible T line at the test zone. The optoelectronic system of the VETSEE G2 Dry Immunoassay Analyzer analyzes the signal intensity of the T line against the lot-specific calibration curve (imported by scanning the QR code), and the concentration is displayed directly on the analyzer screen. The C line indicates a valid test result.

Test Procedure

1Equilibrate — Allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature (15–25 °C) for 10 minutes before use.
2Turn on the analyzer — Turn on the dry immunoassay analyzer and use its scanner to scan the QR code on the inner label of the box or the label of the bag to import the calibration curve of this lot.
3Load the test card — Remove an HbA1c test card from the foil pouch. With the front facing up and the sample well oriented towards the outside of the analyzer's test card slot, insert the card into the slot.
4Apply the sample — Use a pipette to place 10 μL of the anticoagulated whole blood sample into the sample well, then use a pipette to place 90 μL of assay buffer into the sample well.
5Run the test — Push the test card to the farthest end of the slot and tap [STANDARD TEST] on the screen; the HbA1c concentration (%) will be displayed automatically at the end of the countdown, about 10 minutes later.

* The result is calculated and displayed by the VETSEE G2 Dry Immunoassay Analyzer (Standard Test); refer to Result Interpretation for the reference range.

Result Interpretation

ConcentrationInterpretation
< 3%Normal
3–4%Mild abnormal
> 4%Abnormal, possibility of diabetes

The HbA1c concentration (%) is displayed directly on the screen of the analyzer (detection range 2–20%); interpret the value with the reference range above. When the screen of the analyzer displays "invalid", it is recommended to review the operating procedures and perform another test. The suggested reference range was established based on a certain region; it is recommended that each laboratory establishes its own reference range to fit local patients.

* Suggested reference ranges were established based on a certain region; because of varietal and regional differences, each laboratory should establish its own reference range. For in vitro veterinary use only — results should be considered alongside other clinical information.

FAQ

QWhich specimens can be tested?
AFeline whole blood.
QHow long until the result?
AAbout 10 minutes after starting the test on the analyzer.
QDo I need an instrument?
AYes — the VETSEE G2 Dry Immunoassay Analyzer is required; the concentration is calculated and displayed automatically.
QHow is the concentration reported?
AThe analyzer displays the concentration directly on its screen (detection range 2–20%); compare it with the reference range in Result Interpretation.
QCan the test card be reused?
ANo. Each card is for single use only.
QWhat does the C line mean?
AThe C (control) line must always appear after sample application, indicating proper test performance. No C line = invalid test, repeat.
