Product Overview

The Rabbit Encephalitozoon cuniculi IgG/IgM Ab Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay designed for the detection of Encephalitozoon cuniculi antibodies (E.cuniculi IgG and IgM) in rabbit serum, plasma or whole blood. The single testing window carries two test lines so that IgG and/or IgM positivity can be judged visually, or the result can be classified semi-quantitatively into five phases with a dry immunoassay analyzer.

Suitable for:

🐰 Rabbits at risk of infection 🏥 Veterinary clinics & animal hospitals 🐾 Rabbit farms & breeding facilities 🔬 Field screening

Detection Principle

The test card features a testing window with an initially invisible T (test) zone and a C (control) zone. Highly selective antibodies to encephalitozoon cuniculi IgG and IgM antibodies serve as the capture (T) and gold-labeled detector antibodies. When the treated sample is added to the sample well, the liquid flows laterally across the test strip. If the target is present, a visible T line appears, which can also be recognized by the VETSEE G2 analyzer. The C line must always appear after sample application, indicating proper test performance.

Test Procedure

1Equilibrate — allow all components to equilibrate to room temperature (15–25 °C) for 10 minutes before use.
2Collect sample — collect serum, plasma or whole blood following standard veterinary procedures.
3Apply sample — remove the test card from the foil pouch, place it flat, and transfer 1 drop of the sample (using a capillary dropper) into the sample well.
4Add buffer — transfer 3 drops of the assay buffer (using a disposable dropper) into the sample well.
5Read result — start the timer and read at 5–10 minutes. Do not move the test card during testing.

* Instrumental method (Standard Test / Quick Test) also available with the VETSEE G2 Dry Immunoassay Analyzer — see the IFU for details.

Result Interpretation

VisibleVisiblePositive (+)Target detected. Any faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
VisibleNot visibleNegative (−)No target detected.
No lineAnyInvalidTest failed; repeat with a new test card.

The single testing window contains a G (test) line for E.cuniculi IgG, an M (test) line for E.cuniculi IgM and a C (control) line. Read visually 5–10 minutes after sample application: IgG positive when the C and G lines are visible; IgM positive when the C and M lines are visible; IgG and IgM positive when the C, G and M lines are all visible; negative when only the C line is visible; invalid when no line appears in the C zone. With instrumental reading, the result is classified into five phases: negative (low likelihood of E.cuniculi infection), suspicious or grey zone (indeterminate, repeat testing recommended), weak positive (low E.cuniculi IgG and/or IgM antibody titer), positive (middle antibody titer) and strong positive (high antibody titer). The analyzer result is more objective than visual judgment, especially at low antibody titers.

* The C and T lines appear as magenta-colored lines. For in vitro veterinary use only — results should be considered alongside other clinical information.

FAQ

QWhich specimens can be tested?
ARabbit serum, plasma or whole blood.
QHow long until the result?
A5–10 minutes after adding the sample.
QDo I need an instrument?
ANo instrument is required for Method 1 (visual interpretation). The VETSEE G2 analyzer is optional for semi-quantitative reading.
QWhat if the T line is very faint?
AAny faintly visible T line is considered positive when the C line is present.
QCan the test card be reused?
ANo. Each card is for single use only.
QWhat does the C line mean?
AThe C (control) line must always appear after sample application, indicating proper test performance. No C line = invalid test, repeat.
